FBR Open Raises Over 4 Million Dollars for Charity

PHOENIX, Ariz. – FBR Open hosts, The Thunderbirds, will distribute $4,296,000 to local charities through proceeds raised from the 2009 tournament, Thunderbirds Big Chief John Felix announced today. Since October 2003, when FBR became the title sponsor of the event, The Thunderbirds and the FBR Open have raised more than $37.9 million for charities ($37,929,470). In its history, the FBR/Phoenix Open has raised more than $65.9 million for charities in
Arizona.
“We’re thrilled to be able to contribute nearly $4.3 million to local charities through proceeds raised from the FBR Open golf tournament,” said Felix. “The Thunderbirds are thankful for the unbelievable support this community gives to the FBR Open, even in these tough economic times. We could not have raised over $37 million in the last six years without great fans and incredible corporate sponsors such as FBR Capital Markets and Xerox.” The 2010 FBR Open, known as “The Greatest Show on Grass,” will be held at the TPC Scottsdale from February 22nd to February 28th, 2010.The FBR Open is the best-attended golf tournament in the world and has gained legendary status for being the most unique stop on the PGA TOUR. The 2010 edition will mark the 75th playing of the event, and the seventh as the FBR Open, making it one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR.The Thunderbirds, hosts of the FBR Open, were founded in 1937 with the mission of promoting the Valley of the Sun through sports. The Thunderbirds consist of 55 “active” members and more than 250 “life” members. Fry’s Food Stores Named Official Grocer of Frys.com Open

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Frys.com Open tournament director Scott Reid announced today that Fry’s Food Stores has been named the Official Grocer of the 2009 Frys.com Open. As the exclusive food store sponsor, Fry’s Food Stores will sell daily and weekly tournament tickets in more than 100 stores throughout
Arizona, along with helping to feed the tournament volunteers during the week.
Additionally, Wednesday of tournament week (Oct. 21) will be Fry’s Food Stores VIP Day. Any person that shows their Fry’s Food Stores VIP Shopper’s Card at the tournament main entrance will be admitted free for that day.Daily general admission tickets are $25, while a five-day weekly badge is only $50, and will be available for sale at Fry’s Food Stores starting in September.In recognition of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, $10 from each ticket sold in Fry’s Food Stores will be donated to City of Hope, an innovative biomedical research, treatment and educational institution dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Frys.com Open tournament director Scott Reid announced today a new partnership with EcoAid, an Arizona-based sustainability and carbon offset company, to make the 2009 Frys.com Open a completely carbon neutral and eco-friendly event. The Frys.com Open, an official PGA TOUR event to be played Oct. 21-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club, will have a completely neutral carbon footprint by supporting environmental projects that reduce carbon emissions such as solar and wind power, gas capture and reforestation.Additionally, the Frys.com Open will promote sustainability through “reduce, reuse and recycle” programs and showcase many ways for players and fans to be more aware of their impact on the environment. Sustainability, a key objective in green living, focuses on the reduction of future environmental footprints, and takes the extra step, after carbon offsetting, to further reduce ones “footprint” on the planet.“We are very pleased to be teaming up with EcoAid to make the Frys.com Open a carbon neutral and eco-friendly golf event,” Reid said. “Key leaders have expressed a desire to make
