Kirk Triplett and Rich Beem Receive Sponsor Exemptions for Frys.com Open

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Frys.com Open Tournament Director Scott Reid announced recently that 3-time PGA TOUR winner Kirk Triplett and 2002 PGA Championship winner Rich Beem have received sponsor exemptions for the 2009 Frys.com Open.  A total of eight sponsor exemptions will be handed out for the Frys.com Open, which will be played Oct. 21-25, at Grayhawk Golf Club in

Scottsdale.  The first three exemptions went to Jeev Milkha Singh, Rickie Fowler and Jamie Lovemark.

Additionally, Tim Clark; 37th on the Official World Golf Rankings, and Stephen Ames; a 3-time PGA TOUR winner, have committed to play in the 2009 Frys.com Open.Triplett is playing the 2009 season on a Major Medical Extension and has only one start remaining.

The list of committed players also includes a number of Valley residents and top PGA TOUR players, including 2006 Ryder Cup Captain Tom Lehman; defending Frys.com Open champ Cameron Beckman; 13-time PGA TOUR winner and three-time Phoenix/FBR Open champ Mark Calcavecchia; 13-time PGA TOUR winner and 2001 British Open champ David Duval; Arizona State University golf standout and five-time PGA TOUR winner Billy Mayfair; 12-time PGA TOUR winner and British Open champ Justin Leonard; 2008 U.S. Open runner-up Rocco Mediate; 2009 Senior PGA Championship winner Michael Allen and 2009 U.S. Open runner-up Ricky Barnes. 

 2007 champion Mike Weir is the highest ranked player on the Official World Golf Rankings (31st) that is currently in the field.  Others in the top 50 include Clark (37th), Leonard (38th), Rory Sabbatini (45th) and Singh (48th).PGA TOUR members have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, to commit to play in the Frys.com Open.  Eligible players are assigned one of 38 PGA TOUR priority rankings based on past performances on the PGA TOUR.  The field will continue to change as players with better priority rankings commit to play in the Frys.com Open.

Commitments also have been received from Valley residents Robert Garrigus, Arron Oberholser, Pat Perez, Ted Purdy, Chez Reavie, Jeff Quinney and Kevin Streelman.

 The Frys.com Open is part of the PGA TOUR’s Fall Series and will feature a full-field (132 players), four-day tournament with a $5 million purse and $900,000 payout to the winner.  The Frys.com Open will be played Oct. 21-25, 2009, at Grayhawk Golf Club’s Raptor Course, and the tournament will be televised all four days on The Golf Channel.  For more information go to www.frysopengolf.com or find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/frysopengolf .

All law enforcement, firefighters, military personnel Receive Free Admission

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. In honor of the men and women who serve this country in law enforcement, fire prevention and the armed forces, they along with one accompanied guest are invited to attend free of charge the upcoming Frys.com Open, Oct. 21-25, at Grayhawk Golf Club.All law enforcement, firefighters and military personnel (active and retired) and one accompanied guest will be admitted free of charge every day at the 2008 Frys.com Open. Eligible personnel (sworn officers) must present their official department ID or badge at the ticket booth at the main tournament entrance. Business cards and pay stubs will not be accepted as forms of ID. Tickets are limited to two per day, per each official department ID. Standard tournament spectator policies will be in enforced, including no firearms allowed. 

“We are grateful for the sacrifices these people make for our country, and this is just a way to thank them for everything they do,” said Frys.com Open Tournament Director Scott Reid.
