Kirk Triplett and Rich Beem Receive Sponsor Exemptions for Frys.com Open

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Frys.com Open Tournament Director Scott Reid announced recently that 3-time PGA TOUR winner Kirk Triplett and 2002 PGA Championship winner Rich Beem have received sponsor exemptions for the 2009 Frys.com Open. A total of eight sponsor exemptions will be handed out for the Frys.com Open, which will be played Oct. 21-25, at Grayhawk Golf Club in
Scottsdale. The first three exemptions went to Jeev Milkha Singh, Rickie Fowler and Jamie Lovemark.
Additionally, Tim Clark; 37th on the Official World Golf Rankings, and Stephen Ames; a 3-time PGA TOUR winner, have committed to play in the 2009 Frys.com Open.Triplett is playing the 2009 season on a Major Medical Extension and has only one start remaining.
The list of committed players also includes a number of Valley residents and top PGA TOUR players, including 2006 Ryder Cup Captain Tom Lehman; defending Frys.com Open champ Cameron Beckman; 13-time PGA TOUR winner and three-time Phoenix/FBR Open champ Mark Calcavecchia; 13-time PGA TOUR winner and 2001 British Open champ David Duval; Arizona State University golf standout and five-time PGA TOUR winner Billy Mayfair; 12-time PGA TOUR winner and British Open champ Justin Leonard; 2008 U.S. Open runner-up Rocco Mediate; 2009 Senior PGA Championship winner Michael Allen and 2009 U.S. Open runner-up Ricky Barnes.
2007 champion Mike Weir is the highest ranked player on the Official World Golf Rankings (31st) that is currently in the field. Others in the top 50 include Clark (37th), Leonard (38th), Rory Sabbatini (45th) and Singh (48th).PGA TOUR members have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, to commit to play in the Frys.com Open. Eligible players are assigned one of 38 PGA TOUR priority rankings based on past performances on the PGA TOUR. The field will continue to change as players with better priority rankings commit to play in the Frys.com Open.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – In honor of the men and women who serve this country in law enforcement, fire prevention and the armed forces, they along with one accompanied guest are invited to attend free of charge the upcoming Frys.com Open, Oct. 21-25, at Grayhawk Golf Club.All law enforcement, firefighters and military personnel (active and retired) and one accompanied guest will be admitted free of charge every day at the 2008 Frys.com Open. Eligible personnel (sworn officers) must present their official department ID or badge at the ticket booth at the main tournament entrance. Business cards and pay stubs will not be accepted as forms of ID. Tickets are limited to two per day, per each official department ID. Standard tournament spectator policies will be in enforced, including no firearms allowed.

Frys.com Open Adds Irish Flavor and VIP Area to 16th Hole

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Frys.com Open Tournament Director Scott Reid announced today that two venues located at the scenic par-3 16th hole at Grayhawk Golf Club’s Raptor Course have been added to the 2009 Frys.com Open.
O’Donoghue’s Irish Pub, an elevated hospitality tent with great views of the action on the 16th green will be open to the general public. Several beverages will be available for purchase – including an Irish staple, Guinness beer. Additional beer selections, soft drinks and pub fare also will be available for purchase.
Located next to O’Donoghue’s will be the VIP Paddy O’ – sponsored by Paddy O’ Furniture. The VIP Paddy O’ offers complimentary food and drinks. Tickets to the VIP Paddy O’ can be purchased for $75 each day.

As the exclusive food store sponsor, Fry’s Food Stores will sell daily and weekly tournament tickets in more than 100 stores throughout

Unique Couples Pro-Am Will Be First of its Kind on the PGA TOUR
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Frys.com Open Tournament Director Scott Reid announced today that a third Pro-Am has been added to the calendar for the 2009 Frys.com Open, a PGA TOUR event to be played Oct. 21-25, at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Fry’s and Friends Fore Adoption Pro-Am, the first-ever couples pro-am to be played on the PGA TOUR, will take place on Monday, Oct. 19
Proceeds from the Pro-Am will benefit the Fore Adoption Foundation, an organization created by PGA TOUR golfer Kirk Triplett and his wife Cathi, to help bring together adoptable children in foster care with families willing and able to adopt a child. Kirk and Cathi have already committed to play in the event, as have another one of Scottsdale’s professional golf couples, Arron and Angie Oberholser.
“The Fore Adoption Foundation is an organization that is near and dear to my heart, and I’m thankful that we will have the opportunity to showcase and benefit the Foundation during the Frys.com Open,” Triplett said.
The new Pro-Am was announced at an exclusive sponsor golf outing that was attended by 2008 Frys.com Open champion Cameron Beckman. Triplett, Oberholser and Tom Pernice Jr. also attended the event, held at Grayhawk Golf Club’s Raptor Course.
The Fry’s & Friends Fore Adoption Pro-Am package will feature foursomes paired with one PGA TOUR professional. Women and couples are strongly encouraged to participate, although it is not required. The cost for a playing spot is $2,500 per couple or $1,500 for an individual. Each Pro-Am package also includes a participant gift package, 10 general admission tickets good any day and 1 VIP parking pass good all week.
