FBR Open Hole 16

A friend of mine sent us this information about the 16th hole at the FBR Open If you get a chance to go, it is a blast and like nothing else in golf.
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Ever wonder what it would be like to hit a shot on the famed par-3, 16th hole at the TPC Scottsdale during the FBR Open? You just might get that chance…as a number of lucky golf fans along with a host of local media personalities and tournament sponsors will tee-it-up for charity in a unique closest-to-the-pin contest on Wednesday, January 28th, 2009. Dubbed the “Shot At Glory,” the friendly competition will feature roughly 30 participants and will take place following the completion of the FBR Open’s Silver Pro-Am at approximately 3:30 pm. The event is open to spectators – in fact FBR Open fans are encouraged to stick around and cheer-on the participants. Fans 21 and older that do stay for the competition will be rewarded with vouchers for 2 for 1 tickets to Wednesday (Jan 28) evening’s Coors Light Birds Nest featuring Zowie Bowie.
Tournament host The Thunderbirds will award more than $100,000 to the charities chosen by each competitor. Plus, if a participant makes a hole-in-one, $1,000,000 will be divided between the winner and the charity of their choice (paid in a multi-year annuity). If no one makes a hole-in-one, $40,000 will be donated to the charity of the participant who is closest-to-the-pin, while $25,000 and $15,000 will be donated to the 2nd and 3rd place finishers, respectively. Each of the remaining participant’s charities will receive $1,000.
Golf fans participating in the Shot At Glory will be chosen randomly by tournament officials on the day of the event and through contests/retail promotions by FBR Open sponsors such as Crescent Crown Distributing, Diageo and The Tilted Kilt.
2009 marks the second Shot At Glory competition at the FBR Open. In 2008, Mark Cannizzaro, who covers the NFL and golf for the New York Post, took home first place and won $40,000 for the Val Skinner Foundation for being closest-to-the-pin at 19 feet, 10 inches. NFL Hall of Fame running back John Riggins won $25,000 for his charity for being 30 feet from the pin. USA Today Golf Writer Steve DiMeglio took third place and $15,000 for the Gannett Foundation for being 36 feet from the pin.
The FBR Open is the best-attended golf tournament in the world and has raised more than $61.7 million for charities, with more than $33.6 million generated in just the last five years alone. The 2008 FBR Open raised a PGA TOUR record $8,652,542 for charity. Annually sporting by far the largest crowds for any golfing event in the world, the FBR Open has gained legendary status for being a unique stop on the PGA TOUR. The 2009 edition, to be played January 26th through February 1st, will mark the 74th playing of the event, and the sixth as the FBR Open, making it one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR.

Arizona Golf Course Phone Numbers

Arizona golf course phone numbers can be easily located on another website called ArizonasGolfCourses.com . Just like the GolfCourseWebPages website, all metro area courses are included and can easily be found by course name or by the city in which they are located. However, all golf courses can be found without knowing the name ahead of time like many of the golf database based sites that are available online. More golf course reviews will be added shortly.
